Second question: if I should get myself one of those awkward looking big heads (assuming) they are cheapest and sounding great - could I rehouse them in a (e.g. I'm looking for an amp that gives me enough (clean) headroom to play club sized gigs - hopefully offers me some grit when needed - is a perfect platform for pedals - and maybe even sounds good with Bass (I at least own a Bass and currently don't have an amp to play it - just the 2x15" cabinet)įirst question: how does a Showman/Dual Showman Reverb or a Bandmaster (Reverb) differ from the normal channel of the Bassman 50/100?Īs far as I know the Bandmaster is a 40W amp - the Showman has 80W the Dual Showman (Reverb) has 130W - so how do they sound with guitar? how with bass? And I'm totally in for a Silverface - 'cause I simply love their cosmetics - best looking amps in my opinion! except for the big heads (more on this later!)ĭue to the fact that vintage Bassman Amps (even silverface ones) get quite pricy these days! You'd laugh (or cry) if you'd know what was the price the owner of the 50 payed for his. So I'm bitten by that "get yourself one of those vintage fender amps"-bug. I got the 2x15" cab one or two days after I borrowed both the amps - and simply fell in love with that combination - 15" speakers with guitar! Wow! Everyone should try this! -) I liked the Bright Switches on both amps - and wish I could have a foot switch for them. The Bassman 100 was easier to tame - but could also roar! Perfect clean tones - ideal pedal platform! The Bassman 50 was the wilder one - easily dialed in into rich distortion territories - awesome tone when cranked everything to 7 or even up to 10 (or 11 ) - no need for Fuzz - perfect sound for Stoner/Heavy Rock or Doom - but especially with Bass it's lacking clean headroom! I had the possibility to borrow these two beasts for quite some time - but both owners aren't willing to sell their's. As a relatively newbie to the forum I seek your advice!
